Kathmandu, Dec 22 (UNI) Nepal's Finance Minister Ram Sharan Mahat has said the management of only international airport of Nepal should be handed over to a private party.
''We do not have any option but to bring in the private sector if Tribhuvan International Airport is to be made capable of handling the growing traffic,'' Dr Mahat was quoted as saying by the local media today.
He said ''the private sector should be allowed to run the national flag carrier Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) in order to rejuvenate it.'' ''Wherever the public sector is involved, things start going bad.
Look at TIA and NAC,'' he pointed out while addresing a programme in Kathmandu today.
Stating that the travel advisories issued by some countries were too harsh, he asked them to tone them down.
He also said that Kathmandu had the potential of becoming the tourism capital of South Asia. ''It is matchless in comparison to other South Asian cities,'' Kantipur quoted Dr Mahat as saying.
