Hyderabad, Dec 22 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today said the state government was striving hard to provide loans with low interest rate to eligible students to pursue professional courses.
In a release here, he said it was also considering to provide loans at three per cent interest rate for students. The state was planning to provide educational loans to all students on the lines of its house allotment and pension disbursal schemes to all the poor.
Dr Reddy said the matter had already been discussed in a recently conducted state level meet of banks and urged banks to adopt one college to provide loans at the time of admissions.
He said the government had introudced new courses like medical transcription, tourism, bio-technology, computer applications and multipurpose veterinary courses for the benefit of students.
He said 200 'Jawahar Knowledge Centres' were opened in various engineering colleges and 29 centres in government degree colleges in 2005.
