AP Govt does not face shortage of rice: Official
Tirupati, Dec 22 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Civil Supplies Commissioner G N Rao today said there was no shortage of rice in the State, since 3.5 lakh MT of rice was being distributed through Public Distribution System(PDS).
Talking to newspersons here, he said another 3,000 MT under PDS would be released shortly.
Mr Rao said the State Government would urge the Centre to release 25 lakh new gas connections in the State.
The Commissioner asked the district officials at Rayalaseema, Prakasam and Kurnool to implement the Essential Commodities Act by initiating stern action against the offenders.
Stringent action would also be taken against the commercial establishments for using domestic gas cylinders, he added.
