AIFB threatens state-wide agitation from January 28
Kolkata, Dec 22 (UNI) All India Forward Bloc (AIFB), a ruling Left Front partner, today threatened to start a state-wide agitation from January 28 to February 5 next if its charter of demands for development of West Bengal was not approved by the Government, AIFB general secretary Ashok Ghosh said.
Addressing mediapersons here, Mr Ghosh said the party had formulated an eleven-point resolutions during the state council meeting at Bolpur and the Front partners had been apprised about the deamnds and agitation.
"We have sent copies of the resolutions to Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, Left Front Chairman Biman Bose and the other leaders of the alliance partners and a Front meeting should be convened to have a thorough discussion on it,'' Mr Ghosh said.
" We will be compelled to begin the agitation from January 28 if our proposals for overall development of West Bengal were not approved by the Front,'' he said.
Mr Ghosh alleged that both the UPA government at the Centre and the Opposition BJP were in favour of ''development of capitalists'' instead of "development of people.'' He informed that the party would organise a meeting in Nandigram tomorrow to help bring return of peace in the strife-torn areas.
