Two suspected Naxalites arrested in Bihar, arms seized

Madhepura, Dec 21 (UNI) In a major success the Bihar police arrested two suspected Naxalites and seized a cache of arms and ammunition from them at Anant village in this extremist dominated north Bihar district today.

District Superintendent of Police Ajay Kumar told UNI here that acting on a tip-off, a police team raided the village this noon and rounded up the two suspects, aged between 20 and 25, from a house.

Two countrymade guns, one revolver and several rounds of live cartridges were recovered from them.

The arrested were later brought to the district headquarters for further investigation and to trace their connection with underground outfits, the SP said. The identity of the arrested youths was, however, not disclosed.

Incidentally, a fierce encounter between the Maoist guerillas and the CRPF and other security forces took place in neighbouring East Champaran district early yesterday in which seven people were killed and nine injured.This has forced the Bihar government to intensify its anti- naxalite drive which resulted in the arrest of the two youths.
