Kolkata, Dec 21 (UNI) 'Takumi', a new technology insecticide for caterpillar control, was launched here today by Rallis India Limited, a Tata Group company.
Speaking on the occasion Rallis India Limited CEO and Executive Director V Shankar said Takumi was invented by a Japanese company - Nihon Nohyaku - and had been developed by Rallis in India.
Mr Shankar informed that Rallis had conducted large scale trials in the past four years across different places in the country for the testing and development of Takumi for caterpillar control in Indian conditions.
''Rallis always took pride in being the closest to understanding the farmers' needs and bringing in market relevant products to serve the interests of the farming community,'' he observed.
''Takumi, the latest generation product from Nihon, is very special with a unique technology and provides the extremely important long duration control on a range of caterpillars. It is also very environment-friendly,'' Mr Shankar maintained.
Takumi was a completely safe product with respect to toxicity levels, he added.
