Sale of tickets for Chennai Open from tomorrow

Chennai, Dec 21 (UNI) ''Chennai Open 2008'' is all set to get underway here from December 31 and the season tickets for the mega event will begin tomorrow.

An official release said season tickets for Rs 1,500, Rs.1,000 and Rs 500 would be available at the ticket counter at the SDAT Nungambakkam Tennis Stadium, the venue of the matches.

The daily tickets would be available from Decemebr 31.

The event has a star-studded player field of four Top 20 players and eight players who are or have been in the Top 50 during the year 2007. Also, as many as 15 players are top 100 players, thus making it the most powerful and impressive field in the history of the tournament.

Leading the field will be the undisputable king of clay, World No 2, Rafael Nadal of Spain. He is joined by Australian Open 2006 runner-up, World No 16, Marcos Baghdatis (Cyprus), home-crowd favourite and two-time Chennai Open champion in 2004 and 2005 World No 17 Carlos Moya of Spain and World No 19 Mikhail Youzhny of Russia and also the defending Champion winner of a rare double at Chennai Open 2007 Xavier Malisse of Belgium.
