Puducherry, Dec 21 (UNI) The Puducherry Administration will purchase polyester clothes from government-owned Anglo-French Textile (AFT) Mills and PONTEX for free distribution among Scheduled Caste (SC) and Backward Class (BC) people during festival period, Welfare Minister M Kandasamy said today.
Talking to newspersons here after a legislators' meeting, Mr Kandasamy said the decision was taken following Ministers' insisting on such an arrangement.
A set each will be purchased from AFT and PONTEX respectively.
Mr Kandasamy said while those above 18 years in a SC family would get two sets of clothes, a BC card holder would get one set.
He said the legislators demand for providing two sets of clothes to each BC card holder would be decided in consultation with the Chief Minister.
