Kunming (China), Dec 21:Terming terrorism as an international problem, China today said the joint military training with India would help fight the menace in an organised way.
Speaking on the occasion of the opening ceremony of the Sino-India joint training exercise ''Hand-in-Hand 2007'', here, head of the military expert group, Major General Xiong Zuoming said both the countries were committed to fight terrorism and China was with India to fight against it. ''We are there with our Indian friends to fight the menace of terrorism,'' he said adding that it was based on common understanding of the two countries.
Later, Chinese army displayed their martial art tactics and showed how well-equipped was the contingent to fight any hostile condition, at the Kunming Army Academy. Talking about the Chinese army drill, Major General Zuoming said both the armies would learn from each other and work towards the world peace.
Col J S Budhwar, who is leading the Indian side, said it's a big step forward. ''So far we just had officials visiting each other but now it has become more real and it's a result of the growing relations between the two nations,'' he said adding that historically also both India and China made a significant contribution to mankind and now these two countries have a major role to play in the region.
As part of the weapon display, the Chinese contingent displayed some of its latest arms and ammunition including 5.8 mm rifile, type Q34 5.8 sniper rifle, type 79 7.62 mm sub-machine gun and type Q SB91 7.62 mm Dagger pistol.
Indian contingent will have their drill in the evening, following which they too will display their weapons.
