Sugar prices rise on heavy bulk consumers demand

Navi Mumbai, Dec 20 (UNI) Wholesale sugar prices today rose by Rs ten to Rs 1,326 per quintal on fresh demand by sweet-makers despite lesser stocks, traders at the Bombay Sugar Merchant's Association said.

Small and medium grades (per quintal) were up by Rs five and Rs ten respectively on lack of offers from stockists in view of lesser arrival of stocks from co-operative mills.

Ex-mill small and medium grades (per quintal) also rose by Rs ten and Rs 12 respectively on improved demand by big dealers.

Following are the spot wholesale rates per quintal: Small grade: Rs 1,326/1,375, Medium grade: Rs 1,375/1,460.

Ex-mill Small grade: Rs 1,310/1,340 and Medium grade: Rs 1,365/1,425.
