Mayawati rejects UPCC prez's request
Lucknow,
Dec
20:
Chief
Minister
Mayawati
has
rejected
a
request
by
UP
Congress
president
Rita
Bahuguna
Joshi
to
provide
her
with
government
accomodation.
Pointing
at
the
growing
differences
between
the
ruling
BSP
and
Congress-led
UPA
government
at
the
Centre,
the
state
Congress
leaders
said
today
that
there
had
been
a
tradition
of
providing
state
unit
presidents
with
government
accommodation.
"Yes, Congress Legislature Party leader Pramod Tiwari had written a letter to the government...but the request has been rejected,'" Dr Joshi told to the sources here. "Since I do not belong to Lucknow, I am living off a guest house...son of a senior party leader has lended me with his accommodation and I will shift there shortly,'' she added.
The Congress said various state unit presidents of political parties have been provided with government accommodation in the past. Chief Minister in Uttar Pradesh has all the power to allot any government flat or bunglow to any political persons and their top leaders gets the priority.
