New Delhi, Dec 20 (UNI) After skipping yesterday's crucial National Development Council(NDC) meeting, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati chose to keep away from the Chief Minister's Meeting on Internal Security also called by the Centre here today.
Ms Mayawati avoided the Centre despite being in the capital on both days.
''The Chief Minister was here in connection with some party work,'' said an official but refused to comment anything further about the reason for keeping away from the two meetings.
At the NDC meeting, held to approve the 11h Plan document, her address was read out by the state's Agriculture Minister Laxmi Narain, and at today's Internal Security Meeting, the state's views were delivered by its Parliamentary Affairs Minister Lalji Verma.
It is said the Chief Minister is not happy wih the adverse comment reportedly given by the PM-appointed expert committee on the state's demand for Rs 80,000 Crore special package for development of infrastructure in the backward Bundelkhand and eastern region of Uttar Pradesh.
In her speech delivered by her Minister at the NDC meeting, Ms Mayawati had said the Centre should have consulted the state before finalising the draft plan.
