Jr doctors resume duty: services normal

Hyderabad, Dec 20 (UNI) Striking junior doctors in Andhra Pradesh, today resumed their duty following assurances from Home Minister K Jana Reddy that security would be provided.

The doctors had called off their stir after a meeting with the Home Minister last night, who assured them that armed forces would be deployed at all government teaching hospitals in the state.' Nayapul Maternity Hospital Superintendent Hyamavathi told UNI that all junior doctors had resumed duties and the services were going on as usual.

The junior doctors at Gandhi, Osminia, NIMS and Niloufer Hospitals also reported for duty.

Mr Reddy assured the representatives that the government would take stringent action against those who had atacked the staff while discharging their duties. The government would decide on revoking ESMA invoked yesterday morning, he added.

The junior doctors were protesting against the attack on the doctors at Nayapul Maternity Hospital, following the death of a woman patient.
