Demo before collectorate

Puducherry, Dec 20 (UNI) Various political parties, Social organisations and human rights activists today held a demonstration in front of the office of the collectorate here to press their demands.

The stir led by secretary of the Federation for people's rights was to demand, among other things, stringent action against erring police officials and suspension of a police inspector who was allegedly functioning against law. They also demanded an enquiry by a sitting judge into his activities.

Meanwhile, the CPI volunteers held a demonstration in front of the Ozhukarai municipality demanding reduction in the charges at the electric crematorium at Karuvadikuppam and against handing over to a private party work for a shopping complex here.
