Bandh observed to protest man's death in police custody

Gulbarga, Dec 20 (UNI) The Chittapur town bandh call given by the All India Banjara Seva Sangh, in protest against the alleged custodial death of a youth evoked good response as commercial establishments remained closed today.

All educational institutions and government offices remined closed while RTC buses were off the road. No untoward incidents was reported from anywhere, police officials said.

A 25-year-old youth identified as Krishna Kumar Rathod died while in police custody on December 18. The police had arrested him on charges of brewing illicit arrack.

Two police conistables had been suspended in this connection and a case of murder under section 302 IPC had been registered against them, police added.
