Bakrid celebrated in Kerala with traditional piety

Ibrahim's

sacrifice,
was
celebrated
in
Kerala
with
traditional
piety
and
pomp.
Muslims all over the state offered special prayers at Idgahs and Mosques. There was a large turnout of the faithfuls, clad in new apparels, at the Idgahs. Special Idgahs were also set up in different places. After the namaz, they exchanged greetings and visited families. Sweets were also distributed to share the joy of the occasion.
Religious leaders recalled the supreme sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim and exhorted the believers to strive for peace and maintain communal harmony and brotherhood in the society. Thousands of Muslims assembled at the special Idgah at Palayam and Manakad in the city and offered prayers.
A report from Kozhikode said devotees in large numbers offered prayers at specially erected Idgahs and mosques in various places across the Malabar region in the State. In Kozhikode, the main function was held at a special Idgah erected by the City Eid Gah Committee at the Beach.
