Kolkata, Dec 20 (UNI) Bangalore lad fresh from his victory at the LG RCGC Cup won the stroke play format of the Goodricke Eastern India Open, an event on the LG Indian Amateur Golf Tour at the Royal Calcutta Golf Club here today.
Abhishek submitted a card of 1-under par 71 to finish with a two-day total of 1-over 145 and emerge on the top.
Simarjeet Singh was a shot behind 146 followed by Saurav Bahuguna at 147. As many as three players Tarun Gogale, Sanjeev Mehra and HS Kang were tied for the fourth spot at 148.
Abhishek did not have the best of starts making a bogey on the opening hole. He quickly nullified it with a birdie on the fourth hole. But two consecutive bogeys on the eight and ninth, the lanky golfer was two-over after the front nine.
Going on the attacking mode, Abhishek made birdie-bogey sequence on the first four holes while making an eagle on the 15th and a birdie on the 16th to resurrect his round.
''I went for the pins on my back nine and it really helped me.
Though I made a couple of mistakes, I recovered mid-way through my back nine, '' said Abhishek.
