A paralysed Indian seeks help for treatment

Dubai, Dec 20 (UNI) The family of an Indian national, who has been suffering from paralysis and hospitalised here since October, is seeking financial help for the treatment.

Carl Noronha(19), who worked as a graphic designer for an advertising company, is suffering from quadriplegia, a paralysis that affects all four limbs.

According to Carl's mother Jennifer, the tragedy struck in the early hours of October 20 at their residential complex in Deira.

''He was coming home late at night. As he did not have the key to the first floor flat, he tried to climb the pipe that leads all the way to the kitchen. All of a sudden, the pipe broke and Carl fell,'' the Khaleej Times quoted the mother, as saying.

After undergoing a successful operation for the cervical fracture, the 19-year-old boy can now move his hands. But, he has no sensation below the waist.

For the complete cure, he has to take up a rehabilitation programme in India which may last for six months to one year.

The family, hailing from Bangalore in Karnataka, lacks sufficient funds is seeking financial assistance for the same.
