Wanted criminal Anoop Gurjar shot dead in encounter

Lucknow, Dec 19 (UNI) Special Task Force (STF) of Uttar Pradesh Police this morning gunned down the kingpin of a notorious gang, Anoop Gurjar, who was carrying a total reward of Rs 55,000 on his head, in Jalaun district.

UP Additional Director General of Police (law and order) Brijlal said the notorious criminal was shot dead during an encounter that took place in the jungles of Kudhaund area.

A rifle, a pistol and a large number of cartridges were recovered from his possession, he added.

The terror of the outlaw prevailed in both UP and MP.

The UP government had announced a reward of Rs 20,000 on Anoop's head, while the MP government had declared a bounty of Rs 35,000 on his head.

Anoop was accused in over 24 criminal cases including murder and abduction.

Meanwhile, a hunt to nab the other members of the syndicate have been launched.
