Gulbarga, Dec 19 (UNI) The death of an illegal arrack brewer led to tension in Chittapur Thanda village near here last night as the villagers believed that he would have died in police custody.
According to police Krishna Naik was arrested after a raid on his house where he was brewing illicit arrack. Mr Naik died while being taken to police station.
As the news spread, a large number of villagers gathered in front of the police station alleging that he died due to torture by police and demanded immediate action.
However, the police claimed that he died of heart attack.
Superintendent of Police Manish Kabirkar suspended two police constables in this connection and ordered an inquiry.
