Srinagar, Dec 19 (UNI) CPI(M) leader Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami today cautioned that widespread resentment was brewing up among thousands of casual labourers and daily wagers in Jammu and Kashmir as they have not been paid their salaries for the past several months.
In a statement here, he demanded immediate release of wages and salaries of the casual labourers and daily wagers to enable them to celebrate the Eid-ul-Zuha like their brethren.
''The casual labourers and daily wagers, numbering thousands, have not been their wages for the past several months. We were expecting that their salaries would be released on the eve of Eid-ul-Zuha...but even that has not been done,'' Mr Tarigami added.
He sought immediate intervention of Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad in getting released the salaries of casual labourers and daily wagers, who have been engaged in different government departments and public sector undertakings.
Several deputation of casual labourers and daily wagers called on Mr Tarigami to put forth their long-pending demands.
