Sporting hold Viva Kerala

By Staff

Kozhikode, Dec 19 (UNI) Sporting Clube de Goa and Viva Kerala played out a goalless draw in the sixth round of the ONGC I-League at the Corporation Stadium here today.

Both Viva and Sporting added one more point to their kitty, taking their individual tally to nine and three respectively.

Absence of star striker Ghananian Wisdom Abbey was visible as the home side failed to convert into goals many chances which came their way during the game.

Worth mentioning among the moves was one attempt by Nigerian Baba Tunde, who after connecting a fine pass from S Satheesh Kumar shot wide in the 42nd minute.

Sporting also failed to capitalise on their chances, including one by striker Bisheshwor Singh from the goal area, which was effectively saved by rival custodian M V Nelson.

Ghanaian Tutu George of Viva was declared man of the match for his fine performance.

Viva will next lock horns with Churchil Brothers in the away match at Goa on December 23 and then against JCT, Phagwara in the home match here on December 29.
