Sonia stresses effective implementation of schemes

Rae Bareli, Dec 19 (UNI) United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Chairperson Sonia Gandhi today stressed the effective implementation of government welfare schemes, so that the benefit percolate to every section of society.

Ms Gandhi noted that government programmes could be termed successful, only when they benefit all sections of society.

She was reviewing various welfare schemes at the district vigilance and monitoring committee meeting on the second day of the two-day visit to her Rae Bareli parliamentary constituency.

The Congress chief is also the president of the committee.

Referring to the ambitious 'National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme', Ms Gandhi expressed satisfaction on its progress in her Lok Sabha segment.

''The scheme is aimed at generating employment for the people in rural areas and its effective implementation is imperative to achieve the end,'' she said.
