Rupee opens firm at 39.50/51 per USD
Mumbai, Dec 19 (UNI) The Rupee opened firm agianst US Dollar at 39.50/51 from its previous close of 39.54/55 per dollar, tracking a positive move in Indian equity market today.
The local unit was trading against greenback on gains in Asian stock markets raised dealers' hopes of capital inflow into local shares, though the prospect of RBI intervention weighed, dealers said.
However, the partially convertible Indian rupee's movement is range bound in a tight band of 39.45 and 39.52 per dollar in a fairly active interbank foreign exchange (Forex) market, dealers added.
