MP reels under severe cold

Bhopal, Dec 19 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh is reeling under severe cold wave conditions following snowfall in Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh.

The mercury dipped to zero degrees Celsius at Amarkantak. A low of two degrees was recorded in Naugaon in Chhatarpur and Rewa overnight, while the minimum temperature at Anuppur was (2.5 degrees, Umaria (3), Sidhi (4), Gwalior (4), Khajuraho (4), Tikamgarh (4), Mandala (5), Malajkhand (5), Ujjain (6), Jabalpur (6), Satna (6), Shajapur (7) and Indore (8).

''The mercury is likely to remain below four degrees in Rewa, Bhopal, Hoshangabad, Sagar and Jabalpur divisions in the next 24 hours,'' a regional meteorological department spokesperson said.

The mercury continued to plummet in the state capital. However, light sunshine provided some relief to the people.

A UNI report from Amarkantak said, snow was seen on leaves of trees this morning.
