Puducherry, Dec 19 (UNI) Puducherry Education Minister M O H F Shajahan stressed the need for developing an immediate access to information and communication sources as development in any activity could be assured only by utilising latest technological tools.
Launching a 'web catalogue', developed by the French Institute here yesterday, the evening, he said this catalogue had incorporated the details regarding all the books and journals of the institute and readers across the world could access the details through the website of the institute.
He complimented the officials of the institute in fostering Indo-French cultural and linguistic relations since its inception in 1955.
Speaking on the occasion, the institute Director J P Muller said the web catalogue would enable students, researchers and academics across the world to acquaint themselves with the books and journals available in the library.
Consul General of France in Puducherry Joelle Rayet felicitated the institute for its initiative, which would enable researchers and readers to get details of books through the website www.ifpindia.org.
