Patna, Dec 19 (UNI) Bihar Police today handed over Anil Ram, ''area commander'' of the proscribed CPI(Maoist) and prime accused in the massacre of 18 people, including former Jharkhand Chief Minister Babulal Marandi's son, to their Jharkhand counterpart.
''The absconding extremist, an accused in the mayhem, was arrested from his village Ghurmuria under Govindpur police station area in Nawada district on Monday,'' Superintendent of Police Vinod Kumar said.
He said acting on a tip off the police raided the village and arrested Anil Ram from his house. After preliminary interrogation the rebel was handed over to the Jharkhand police, Mr Kumar added.
About 200 armed Maoists had attacked a cultural programme at Tilkhari village in Jharkhand's Giridih district on October 27 and gunned down 18 people, including Mr Marandi's son.
