Islamabad, Dec 19 (UNI) Afghan President Hamid Karzai will start a two-day visit to Pakistan on December 26.
'' This is essentially a goodwill visit and expression of solidarity with Pakistan,'' Foreign Office spokesman Muhammad Sadiq said at a press briefing.
Mr Karzai will be the second head of state to visit Pakistan after the re-election of President Pervez Musharraf.
The Afghan President will meet the President and the Prime Minister and their discussion would focus on bilateral relations, reconstruction in Afghanistan and on the regional and international situation.
Asked to comment on the US House of Representatives' bill envisaging conditionalities for aid to Pakistan, the spokesman said any conditionalities attached to the assistance programme would not serve the relationship between the two countries.
He said Pakistan-US relationship serves the interest of peace and stability and progress in the region.
Pakistan will remain engaged with the US and American Congress on the issue.
