CPI state-level convention begins in Tirupati

Tirupati, Dec 19 (UNI) The 23rd state-level convention of the Communist Party of India (CPI), which began here today, discussed various issues including the formation of a 'Third Front' at the centre.

Speaking after inaugurating the three-day convention, party General Secretary A B Bardhan said the party would support the formation of the 'Third Front'.

He said the Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre had allotted 12,000 acres, besides agricutural lands, to Reliance Group for industrial purpose, putting the 75 per cent farmers in the country to hardship.

Party Secretary D Raja also participated in the convention, which was attended by more than 5,000 party cadres.

Earlier, senior party leader and ex-MLA Sivarama Reddy hoisted the party flag at the venue.
