Shimla, Dec 19 (UNI) The state BJP has called upon the Election Commission of India and the Himachal Pradesh Governor to ensure that present government was not allowed to take any policy decisions till the counting process for the assembly elections was over on December 28.

Interacting with media persons here today, BJP incharge for Himachal affairs Satya Pal Jain said, ''People of Himachal have given their mandate today and from now onwards the government in Himachal is a caretaker one, therefore it should be restrained from taking any policy decisions.'' ''The Government seems adopting an attitude of confrontation and BJP is aware that Congress and government will try to create a situation of constitutional crisis. In the wake of this, the governor and Election Commission should ensure that provisions of model code of conduct were strictly followed,'' asserted Jain.

Mr Jain reiterated that there would be no situation of constitutional crisis in the state as the chief minister Virbhadra Singh had been repeatedly stating.

''Once the government loses mandate of people, it would constitutionally, legally, morally or democratically have no right to continue in the office and chief minister will have to tender his resignation,'' said Jain, adding that even the Congress high command will advice Virbhadra Singh to resign in the event of Congress loses the mandate.
