Lucknow, Dec 19 (UNI) Confusion prevailed once again over execution of Anapra 'C' thermal power project in Uttar Pradesh as Lanco Kondapalli, the execution agency, was proceeding with 1200 MW project size despite getting go ahead from UP Electricity Regulatory Commission (UPERC) for 1000 MW only.
Lanco had won the Anpara 'C' project through a competitive bid quoting lower than Reliance Energy and Essar Energy companies.
Later, it tried to obtain the UPREC approval to increase the capacity of Anpara 'C' from 2x500 MW to 2x600 MW.
Still, the company achieved the financial closure on November this year without having final approval of UPREC. Lanco had signed the financial documents for 1200 MW even as the UPREC has only given approval for 1000 MW.
Lanco has also submitted an application for additional coal linkage for the self proclaimed capacity of 1200 MW Anpara 'C' project to the ministeries of Coal and Environment for clearance.
UP Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) officials, however, remained non-committal if the Lanco was going ahead with the 1200 MW project.'' The issue of enhanced capacity would be decided by the UPREC while the official stand of the UP government is based on the agreement with the Lanco which is for 1000 MW,'' Avnish Awasthi, the Managing Director of UPPCL, told UNI
