{image-Sonia_gandhi and MODI_19122007.jpg}New Delhi, Dec 19: The BJP today said the Congress and Left should do introspection before pointing accusing fingers at the saffron party.

BJP spokesman Prakash Javadekar said Congress President Sonia Gandhi after referring to Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi as ''merchants of of death'' had committed five flip flops underlining the confusion prevailing in the Congress camp. Firstly, they said the Congress President did not utter the phrase at all and later maintained that it was meant for the police and not against Mr Modi. The party then came up with a third explanation asserting that it was meant for the Chief Minister and later clarified that it was for the 'system'. Now the Congress is saying that it was directed against the system as well as Mr Modi.

He said the Congress which was responsible for the carnage against the Sikhs in 1984, forced sterilisation during the Emergency, murders of thousands in Bhagalpur riots and hundreds of fake encounters in Punjab have lost all moral rights to talk of human rights violations.

Noting that the CBI filing report about CPI(M) cadre harassing and beating up witnesses in the Nandigram violence was yet another testimony to the complicity of cadre in the violence.

The CBI inquiry required all protection to be provided to the victims of Nandigram by removing the local police from the area and placing it under the control of the central forces. ''Unless this is done truth would never surface and the unearthing of graves is good enough reason for such an action,'' he said.

Mr Javadekar said, ''The CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechury, who had accused the BJP of hobnobbing with Maoists, must remember that it was his party which brokered peace between outlawed Maoists and Government in Nepal. The party had surrendered to the Muslim fundamentalists by driving out Bengali writer Taslima Nasreen from West Bengal while the Congress had also done the same during the Shahbano episode.'' These parties have no moral right to speak on the issue, he added.
