Bangalore, Dec 19 (UNI) Bharti Telesoft, a leading global provider of integrated Value Added Service(VAS) solutions for mobile operators, today announced the acquisition of Jataayu Software, a pioneer of WAP and mobile handset applications as part of its growth strategy.

The acquisition would strengthen the company's offerings in new and existing markets, Bharati Telesoft said in a release here.

With the acquisition, Bharti Telesoft reinforces its position as a world leader in the integrated VAS space. Jataayu's wholly owned subsidiary in the USA and offices in the UK, Singapore, Taiwan and South Korea would be added to Bharti Telesoft's existing operations across Africa, the Middle East and AsiaPac regions. Bharti Telesoft would now have a presence in 14 countries worldwide, further consolidating its position as the leading Indian mobile VAS company in terms of global presence, revenues and employee base.

According to Manoranjan Mohapatra, CEO, Bharti Telesoft, ''We foresee immense potential in the union of Bharti Telesoft's and Jataayu's offerings. The WAP, MMS and IMPS capabilities of Jataayu fit well with Bharti Telesoft's messaging portfolio and will position us more favorably in the market by enhancing our offerings for the customer. The handset applications business takes us into a new, rapidly developing, and very important area, which is set to change dramatically in the near future. As Jataayu is an established player in this space we can consolidate our position and build attractive propositions for this sector. Overall, our customers are going to benefit from a wider portfolio of offerings and advanced R and D strength''.

Jataayu's current management team would continue to work within the combined company and contribute to its success, and Mahesh Jain, Jataayu's Managing Director, would continue in an advisory role for the coming year. There would be no changes to Bharti Telesoft's Board of Directors.
