Moradabad, Dec 19: Despite directions from the Union Finance Ministry, banks are showing little interest in providing loans to the financially weaker sections of the society.
According to the statistics presented in a review meet of Divisional Institutional Finance Co-ordination Committee, of the total dispersed loan till September in Moradabad, only 28 per cent was provided to the finacially weaker sections.
This persantage was much lesser than the fixed target, sources said.
In Jyotiba Phule Nagar, a target to provide loan to 450 eligible people under the Pradhan Mantri Rojgar Yojna was kept, but loan to only 300 people could be provided.
Similarly, a target of loan disbursal to 1,320 eligible people, 1,170 people and 930 people was fixed for Moradabad, Bijnore and Rampur districts, but loan to only 650, 650 and 540 eligibe people respectively could be disbursed.
Under the Swarn Jayanti Shehri Rozgaar Yojana, only 145 eligible people were provided loan, besides the target of 330 in Jytoiba Phule Nagar.
A target of loan disbursal to 1,040 and 440 eligible people was fixed for Moradabad and Rampur districts, but only 420 and 160 eligible people were provided loan.
