HP: Ration cards, pension dominant poll issues

Shimla, Dec 17th 2007 : India's poorest, the families living in the Below Poverty Line or BPL section in northern Himachal Pradesh demand proper distribution of ration cards and essential items ahead of assembly polls in the state.

In the state alone there are over five lakh fourteen thousand BPL families, which include the Antyodya families too. They live in sheds, paying tax to the government; still they are deprived of electricity supply.
