Sambalpur bandh peaceful

Sambalpur, Dec 18 (UNI) The dawn-to-dusk Sambalpur bandh, called by the Sachetana Nagarika Committee(SNC) and supported by various other organisations, paralysed normal life here today.

The bandh was observed demanding establishment of permanent Bench of Orissa High Court in Western Orissa and enquiry against police and the state government officials for helping a businessman run the adulterated edible oil business for the past five years.

The Sambalpur Police recently unearthed a big factory, run by one Sitaram Agarwal and his family members, manufacturing adulterated edible oil worth crores of rupees.

Shops and commercial organisations, state and Central government offices, Banks and educational institutions remained closed, while vehicles remained off the road.
