Rajya Sabha MP Motiur Rahman passes away
Motihari, Dec 18 (UNI) RJD Rajya Sabha member Motiur Rahman died following a massive cardiac arrest at his residence today.
He was 59 and is survived by his wife, two sons and four daughters.
Elected to the Bihar Legislative Assembly twice from Dhaka constituency of East Champaran district on Congress ticket between 1980 and 1990, Rehman, however, left the party and joined RJD in 2001.
He was later appointed as the National General Secretary of RJD as well as its national spokesman. He was also a great exponent of Urdu and Hindi literature.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, RJD supremo Lalu Prasad along with former Chief Minister Rabri Devi condoled the death of the veteran leader.
Describing the RJD leader as a secular and mass leader, the Chief Minister in a message had expressed sympathy to members of the bereaved family.
