Chennai, Dec 18 (UNI) The rain gods appear to have cast their spell over the Elite Group A Ranji trophy cricket championhip super league match between Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu with incessant rain washing out the second day's play at the M A Chidambaram stadium.
Tamil Nadu's hopes of forcing an outright win from the strong position they were in at 302 for three batting first, now appear dim with forecast of more rain during the next 48 hours due to a low pressure in the Bay of Bengal. While captain S Badrinath made 138, opener M Vijay was batting on 112 at stumps yesterday.
Tamil Nadu, who have 12 points from five matches are vying for a place in the knock out semi finals as the second team from this group.
The umpires A Y Dandekar and Dr M S Mahal officially ruled out any play for the day at 1430 hrs.
Brief scores: Tamil Nadu 302-3 in 81.4 overs.
