Chennai, Dec 18 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi left here for New Delhi this afternoon to attend the National Development Council (NDC) meeting tomorrow, after his departure was delayed by 30 minutes due to incessant rain.
Mr Karunanidhi, heading a ten-member State team including Ministers K Anbazhagan, Arcot N Veerasamy and Duraimurugan and Chief Secretary L K Tripathi, left by a Jet Airways flight. The flight, originally scheduled to take off at 1340 hrs, left only at 1410 hrs.
The delegation was seen off at the airport by Local Administration Minister M K Stalin and other Ministers.
During his visit, Mr Karunanidhi would also attend the conference of Chief Ministers, convened by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
Rising incidents of naxal violence and terror attacks by various militant organisations would be the main focus of the December 20 meeting.
Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil, heads of paramilitary forces and other security agencies would also attend the meeting to take stock of the country's internal security scenario.
The Chief Minister was also likely to call on AICC President Sonia Gandhi.
Mr Karunanidhi was expected to return on the afternoon of December 21.
