Hardcore Naxalite killed in encounter

Bhubaneswar, Dec 18 (UNI) A hardcore naxalite was killed and arms and ammunition, several incriminating documents, CDs and literature were seized during an encounter and combing operation inside Gudari forest in Rayagada district today.

Rayagada district Superintendent of Police A K Singh told UNI over phone that acting on a tip off, a joint police team of Andra Pradesh and Orissa conducted an intensive combing operation inside the forest this morning.

During a fierce exchange of fire, a hardcore lady naxalite was killed. A walki-talkie, rifles, several incriminating documents, CDs and literature were recovered from her possession.

The SP said other naxalites had fled the scene after the encounter, adding the combing operation was still continuing to flush out the naxalites from the area.

A police team, Mr Singh said, went to the spot to bring the body.
