Ganga pollution case hearing on Dec 20

Allahabad, Dec 18 (UNI) Allahabad High Court today fixed the Ganga pollution case for next hearing on December 20.

The High Court has asked the Chief Standing Counsel of the state government to seek instruction and inform the court, about the pollution of the sacred river.

The order was passed by a two-judge bench comprising Justices B S Chauhan and Ashok Bhusan hearing a PIL filed by Hari Chaitanya Maharaj here.

It was informed to the court that in pursuance of the July 13, 2007 court order, a high-level committee had been constituted.

An official affidavit had also been filed by the state government that reports had been sought from different departments and as soon as report is made available, action would be taken.

In view of the coming Magh Mela, the principal secretary on November 29, 2007 had passed an order to release 1,000 cusecs water from Narora Dam.
