Nashik, Dec 18 (UNI) Thousands of farmers from Sinnar taluka participated in a ''Morcha'', organised by the Sinnar taluka Anti-SEZ (Special Economic Zone) Action Committee, here today.

The ''Morcha'' was organised to express the unwillingness of farmers in giving their lands for industrialisation through the proposed SEZs in the taluka. After requisition of land in Musalgaon and Gulwanch, the MIDC has transferred the land to India Bulls for establishment of SEZs. Now, the government has decided to establish additional industrial zones in Khopadi, Budruk, Datli, Shahapur, Kedarnagar, Maparwadi, Gonde and Shivajinagar (Malwadi) areas of the taluka.

However, farmers here refused to give their lands for the same and participated in today's ''Morcha'' to attract the goverment's attention.

The ''Morcha'' began from Sinnar bus stand and reached the Tehsil office where a memorandum was given to Sinnar Tehsildar Bheemrao Shinde. It received support from various political parties whose activists also participated in it.

Maharashtra President of the Anti-SEZ Commitee Dr N D Patil, who led the ''Morcha'' along with others, explained the reason behind the resistance to the SEZs, while addressing the participants. ''The opposition is not in demand for more price for the lands but farmers do not want to give their lands at all,'' he said.
