CPI(M) urges Governor not to permit Datta Jayanthi, Shobha Yatra
Bangalore, Dec 18 (UNI) CPI(M) today urged Karnataka Governor Rameshwar Thakur not to permit 'Datta Jayanthi' and 'Shobha Yatra' by the Sangh Parivar at Bababudanagiri in Chikamagalur district.
In a release here, CPI(M) General Secretary G C Byarareddy alleged that there was no practice of holding Datta Jayanthi and Shobha Yatra prior to 1975 and it was floated by Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Sangh Parivar to create communal tension.
''The Government should limit holding of pooja and homa as directed by Supreme Court and State High Court,'' he added.
He said both the Governor and District administration should uphold communal harmony and not give permission for any such activities which would provoke communal tension.
Mr Byrareddy alleged that the BJP, which had lost power in the State, was indulging in creating communal tension keeping eye on coming elections.
