Dhaka, Dec 18 (UNI) The Awami League would undertake a ''vigorous'' movement to secure justice for former prime minister Sheikh Hasina and even seek international intervention in this regard, if needed, acting party president Zillur Rahman said.

Addressing mediapersons yesterday, Mr Rehman said, ''If we do not get justice and fail to get her (Hasina) released, we will go for a vigorous movement and seek international help to secure her freedom.'' Since the country was under a state of emergency, the party would organise the movement on a limited scale, he said expressing hope that Sheikh Hasina would be proved innocent in the court, the New Age quoted him as saying.

Talking about his party's stand on the war criminals, he said ''Trial of war criminals must be held if we are united''.

On Sunday, Awami League, along with other political parties boycotted the Victory Day celebrations, the 36th anniversary of Bangladesh's glorious triumph over Pakistani occupation forces in the Liberation War.
