AP HC directs Registrar to visit govt hospitals

Hyderabad, Dec 18 (UNI) A Division bench of Andhra Pradesh High Court today appointed its Registrar General as a Court Observer to visit and verify whether state government had made alternative arrangements to ensure that work in government hospitals did not suffer following the strike by junior doctors in the city.

The Bench comprising, Acting Chief Justice Bilal Nazki and Judge Justice Ramesh Ranganatham, adjourned the hearing on the public interest writ petition questioning the senior doctors strike on December 20.

The state government, in an affidavit, informed the court that it had decided to invoke ESMA against the doctors if they did not resume duties by tomorrow morning.

The government also requisitioned the services of doctors from all sectors including the Army. It also informed the court that it had directed the NTR Health Universituy to treat as absence from work the strike period of the doctors and order all agitating doctors to vacate the hospitals.
