Truck driver murdered in Meghalaya

A
truck
driver
was
murdered
near
Umkiang
village
in
Jaintia
Hills
district
of
Meghalaya
while
the
cleaner
managed
to
escape
the
clutches
of
the
highway
robbers,
police
said
here
today.
Police said the incident occurred on December 13, when the driver and handyman were sleeping near a highway hotel. The truck was on its way to Agartala in Tripura.
Quoting the cleaner, police said about seven miscreants, armed with sharp weapons, entered the truck and forcibly took possession of the truck. On reaching Malidor, the miscreants stabbed the driver to death while the cleaner managed to escape and informed the police.
Later, Meghalaya police traced the truck at the Kalian area in Lower Assam the next day.
