RPF claims responsibility of Imphal blast

Imphal, Dec 17 (UNI) The Revolutionary People's Front (RPF) today claimed the responsibility of yesterday's bomb blast in which seven people were killed and 27 injured.

RPF "assistant secretary" Lily Leima said in a statement that the blast was triggered by the RPF.

She apologised on behalf of the organisation for the loss of lives in the blast.

Meanwhile, police and troops had launched massive operations in Imphal East following the blast.

Police had raided some hideouts of the militants and beefed up the security arrangements.

Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil condemned the incident.

A statement, issued by the Home Ministry, said Mr Patil strongly condemned the bomb blast.
