Railway inquiry begins into train-bus mishap
Moga, Dec 17 (UNI) A three-member team of senior officials of the Northern Railways today started the inquiry into Chuharchak train-bus accident.
The three-member team, which includes Northern Railways divisional manager Satish Kumar, inspected the site of the accident at Chuharchak Nawan village where 16 persons were killed and as many injured in the train-bus collision on December 14 morning.
The inquiry would be completed in three days, Railways sources said.
Earlier, as announced by Union Railway Minister Laloo Parshad Yadav, compensation of Rs five lakh each to the families of the deceased in the accident was given yesterday to the families.
A total of Rs 40 lakh was distributed by railways among the victims' families.
The railway minister had also announced Rs 50,000 each for the seriously injured persons and Rs 15,000 each for persons with minor injuries.
