Patna High Court adjourns hearing of DA case against Lalu

Patna, Dec 17 (UNI) The Patna High Court today adjourned the hearing of a petition of Bihar government till January 23, challenging the acquittal of Union Railway Minister Lalu Prasad and his wife Rabri Devi in the Disproportionate Asset (DA) case, by the designated CBI court of Patna on December 18, 2006.

Justice R K Dutta adjourned the hearing of the petition after accepting the plea of the counsel of Mr Prasad and his wife, who requested for adjournment, stating that the senior advocate of the apex court, who was to plead their case, could not come today due to unavoidable circumstances.

The state government had filed the petition on February 18, challenging the acquittal of Mr Prasad and his wife by the CBI court in DA case, an off-shoot of the fodder scam.

The DA case was filed by CBI on the basis of evidences gathered against them during investigation of the scam.
