Make people aware of Central sponsored schemes: Atwal

Khatkar Kalan (Nawashahr), Dec 17 (UNI) Lok Sabha Deputy Speaker Charanjit Singh Atwal has said the Central government sponsored schemes could play a vital role in changing the social life of the people, but the need was to make them aware of these schemes.

Speaking at the Bharat Nirman Public Information Campaign, being organised by the Press Information Bureau (PIB)here today, Mr Atwal said no one would be able to get the benefit of developmental and welfare schemes of the government unless one was aware of those schemes.

Appreciating the efforts of PIB in organising such campaigns to make aware people regarding primary information about these schemes, Mr Atwal said the flagship programmes of the Centre like Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, Water and Soil Conservation, National Rural Health Mission and National Rural Employment Guarantee schemes are the unique schemes which have been launched to facelift the social life of the people.

He asked the district authorities present during the campaign to submit use certificate of the funds distributed to them from MPLAD funds for the development works carried out in the district.

He warned that unless such certificates would be received by the government, no further grants would be released.

Mr Atwal disclosed that till date he had given a sum of Rs 6.50 crore from his MPLAD fund and more amount would be given only after receiving the use certificate of these funds.
